Pool hygiene
Remove your outdoor shoes
Outdoor shoes are strictly prohibited in 'Barefoot zones'.
This prevents contamination of the following areas:
- the changing room floors,
- the showers,
- the poolside.
Wear flip-flops
Wearing flip-flops that you only wear when walking around the pool can help prevent infections on the skin of your feet (e.g. fungal infections, verrucas, etc.).
Shower with soap before entering the pool
By washing your whole body, you remove particles of dead skin and dust, both of which carry germs which could contaminate the pool water.
Wear a cap
Wearing a swimming cap prevents hair from getting into the water. Any organic material that remains in the water will mean the pool water needs a stronger chemical treatment.
Do not wear shorts
Wear only purpose-designed swimming costumes. Other clothing has a surface that can harbour germs, which will contaminate the water.
Do not eat in the pool
Eating and drinking in the 'Barefoot zones' are strictly prohibited.
Do not smoke
Smoking is strictly prohibited in the pool area.
Shower with soap after getting out of the pool
Pool water contains chemical substances and their degradation products. These chemical products are necessary to reduce the number of germs brought into the pool. Protect your skin by showering with soap to wash off these substances.
